Conversational Italian, Lesson 6
Intransitive infinitive
Italian intransitive verbs are not easy to learn because so muchdepends on who or what Me subject is. The subject controls t predicate nouns and predicate adjectives. Nouns and adjectives that follow essere to be are called predicate nouns or adjectives; these inflect to agree with the subject of the verb.
Intransitive verb, unlike transitive verbs, do not have objects. Theiractions remain with the subjects. For example, in the sentence, I goto the store. The verb to go functions as an intransitive verbbecause no action is transferred from the subject i to the objectstore.
